Rock art in the Helan Mountains records human attention to animals, people and the surrounding world. The carvings occur across the eastern foothills, with a notable concentration at Helankou near Yinchuan. Their lines survive on uneven stone, inviting close observation while leaving room for questions about meaning.
Choose one figure and describe only what is visible: a curve, a repeated mark or a face-like shape. Compare observations with a friend before turning to the site’s interpretation.
