Ancient Culture Street gathers shops and traditional crafts around Tianhou Temple in Tianjin’s Nankai district. The temple honours Mazu, associated with the protection of people at sea, while the surrounding street presents the city’s decorative and commercial traditions. Its present visitor district took shape in the 1980s.

Look beyond the overall street scene to a painted beam, sign or craft display. Comparing one small detail with a friend can reveal what each of you finds memorable.
