The National Palace Museum’s Taipei building was completed in 1965 in a style recalling Chinese palaces, with green tiled roofs and yellow ridges. Its collections bring together objects, painting, calligraphy, rare books and documents, with later acquisitions adding to earlier holdings. The building’s broad outline is one way into a much smaller world of craftsmanship. Before a possible visit, each choose a material or art form that interests you and compare what you hope to learn.
