Tianya Haijiao is a coastal landscape west of central Sanya, known for large granite boulders and their inscriptions. Its name is often translated as the end of the earth. Stories of distant travel and exile helped give this shoreline meanings beyond its physical beauty.
Look at how written characters occupy the uneven surface of a rock. Against the changing sea, those fixed marks offer a small reminder of the people who tried to describe being here.
