Founded in the seventh century, Jokhang Temple forms part of the same World Heritage ensemble as the Potala Palace. Its wooden and stone buildings show Tibetan Buddhist architectural traditions alongside influences from India, Nepal and China. Look for the relationship between a courtyard, its surrounding buildings and the rooflines above. If exploring together, save your longer conversation for an appropriate place away from worship. The architecture can prompt curiosity without requiring every detail to be immediately understood.
