Mount Lushan, in the Jiujiang area, brings natural scenery together with a long cultural history. Buddhist and Taoist sites and centres of Confucian learning became part of the mountain landscape. Writers and artists found inspiration here, making the mountain a place of ideas as well as views.

Look for the relationship between a building and the ground around it. Does the structure seem to command the scene, or quietly find its place within it?
