The mound known as Zhaojun Tomb is associated with Wang Zhaojun, a Han-period woman whose story has travelled through history, poetry and folklore. Also called Qingzhong, the site sits south of central Hohhot and forms a landscape of remembrance rather than a simple portrait of one person’s life.

Look at how the mound and surrounding monuments guide attention. With a companion, discuss how a place can preserve a story even when its meanings change across generations.
