Shaolin Temple forms part of Dengfeng’s World Heritage group of historic monuments. The listed complex includes the main temple compound, Chuzu Temple and the Pagoda Forest. Together they belong to a wider landscape of religious, educational and scientific sites around Mount Songshan.

Look beyond a familiar name and notice the buildings themselves: their repeated roofs, enclosing walls and changes of scale. One quiet architectural detail can give you a different starting point for understanding the place.
